YES, that's a great time to go, well before the hurricane season. About the worse you can expect is some rain showers maybe.

May is a really good time. The weather is nice: no hurricanes, not too hot but definitely plenty warm. Also, there aren't too many small children (the summer is full of kids on vacation).

BTW, if this is your first cruise, you might like this "Introduction to Cruising", which covers how to avoid sea sickness, what a typical day is like, etc.:

Yes, May is a great time. The Caribbean is just coming out of their dry season and there will be stray showers. The temps will be great compared to August. Go and have a good time.

I've been on one May and one early June cruise and they were both great. Coming from the north the change from 50 degree weather to 75-80 degree weather is quite nice. (It's an early summer) Fortunately we had no storms and thus no rough seas at all. It was like glass and you never knew the boat was moving. I'm sure you will have a great time. enjoy
